Regular Season Round 4: Kirchheim - Bayer Giants 88-71

Kirchheim Knights has registered their first victory this season after two consecutive losses. The win is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Bayer Giants (2-2) 88-71. Kirchheim Knights dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Bayer Giants' 30. Kirchheim Knights forced 23 Bayer Giants turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Bayer Giants helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a very good performance for Kevin Wohlrath (197-95) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). American Kyle Leufroy (190-96, college: Lehigh) contributed with 19 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four Kirchheim Knights players scored in double figures. American JJ Mann (198-91, college: Belmont, agency: GoEmpire Group) replied with 14 points and 8 rebounds and Haris Hujic (193-97) added 13 points and 4 assists in the effort for Bayer Giants. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Kirchheim Knights (1-2) left bottom position moving up to eleventh place, which they share with Schwenningen and Karlsruhe PS. Bayer Giants at the other side keep the fourth position with two games lost. Kirchheim Knights' next round opponent will be higher ranked Walter Tigers (#10) in Tuebingen and it may be quite challenging game. Bayer Giants will play at home against Science City Jena (#9) and hope to win that game.
