Regular Season Round 7: Trefl 2 Sopot - Chelmno 107-100

There was an upset when 3rd placed Chelmno (3-3) was defeated on the road by eighth ranked Trefl 2 Sopot (2-2) 107-100 on Saturday. Trefl 2 Sopot forced 29 Chelmno turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. It was a great evening for forward Daniel Ziolkowski (195-2) who led his team to a victory scoring 37 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Hubert Lalak (176-3) helped adding 14 points, 5 rebounds, 15 assists and 5 steals. Trefl 2 Sopot's coach Janusz Kociolek used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side forward Daniel Belski (191-86) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and guard Krystian Rosinski (190-98) scored 24 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Trefl 2 Sopot moved-up to sixth place. Newly promoted Chelmno dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. Trefl 2 Sopot will face higher ranked Ogniwo Szcz. (#3) in Szczecin in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Chelmno will play at home against Astoria 2 and hope to win that game.
