There was no surprise in Saporro where 9th ranked Hokkaido L. (3-8) was crushed by third ranked Chiba J. (9-2) 126-75 on Saturday. Chiba J. well out of reach of Hokkaido L. shooting 71.2 percent from the field and made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Hokkaido L. 38-18 including a 31-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Chiba J. shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 58.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Shannon Shorter (193-89, college: N.Texas) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists. Spanish forward Sebastian Saiz (205-94, college: Ole Miss) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). American forward Jawad Williams (204-83, college: UNC) produced 16 points and 4 assists and the other American import forward Nick Mayo (206-97, college: EKU, agency: Pensack Sports) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Five Chiba J. and four Hokkaido L. players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Chiba J.. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Ryukyu GK. Hokkaido L. lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the ninth place with eight games lost. Chiba J. will have a break next round. Hokkaido L. will play again at home against Chiba J. (#3) and hope to win that game.
