Regular Season Round 10: Ginebra Kings - SM Beermen 66-81

Top ranked Ginebra Kings (8-3) recorded its third loss in Manila on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by fifth ranked SM Beermen (6-4) 81-66. Naturalized Tongan center Moala Tautuaa (200-89, college: Chadron St.) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. American guard Chris Ross (185-85, college: Marshall) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Five SM Beermen players scored in double figures. Guard Scottie Thompson (188-93) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists and swingman Aljon Mariano (190-92) added 11 points and 12 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. SM Beermen maintains fifth position with 6-4 record, which they share with Meralco Bolts and Hotshots. Ginebra Kings at the other side still keep top place with three games lost. SM Beermen is looking forward to face Blackwater Elite (#10) in Caloocan City in the next round where they are favorite. Ginebra Kings will have a break next round.
