Regular Season Round 5: Gigantes - Diablos 82-78

SLB top team - Gigantes (5-0) added another victory to their record on Monday. This time they beat tenth ranked Diablos (1-4) in Puerto Ordaz 82-78. Gigantes looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Jose Vargas (195-82, agency: Pro Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Douglas Rondon (175-96) chipped in 15 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Forward Angelo Cisneros (198-97) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and swingman Jhonnathan Martinez (196-99) added 12 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the guests. Five Gigantes and four Diablos players scored in double figures. Diablos' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Gigantes have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 5-0 record. Diablos lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with four games lost. Gigantes will meet Llaneros (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Diablos' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Caracas Spartans.
