The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Spanish Unicaja Malaga as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Unicaja Malaga smashed 4th placed Montenegrin Mornar Bar at home 98-72. The game without a history. Unicaja Malaga led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot 62.3 percent from the field. Unicaja Malaga outrebounded Mornar Bar 32-15 including a 25-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 64.0 percentage. Unicaja Malaga looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. It was a great evening for guard Dario Brizuela (187-94) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). French forward Axel Bouteille (201-95, agency: BeoBasket) helped adding 16 points. At the losing side guard Nemanja Vranjes (187-88) responded with 14 points and 4 assists and American forward Taylor Smith (199-91, college: SF Austin) scored 10 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Lokomotiv. Mornar Bar at the other side keeps the fourth place with four games lost. They share the position with Ulm. Mornar Bar will play next round against Brescia trying to get back on the winning streak. Unicaja Malaga will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Buducnost in Podgorica.
