Regular Season Round 5: Quebradillas - Mayaguez 76-95

An interesting game for Indios (4-1) which played road game in Quebradillas against 3rd placed Piratas (3-1). Second ranked Indios had an easy win 95-76. Indios made 17-of-19 charity shots (89.5 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. American guard Jaysean Paige (188-94, college: WVU) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and his fellow American import Mike Harris (198-83, college: Rice) chipped in 11 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Indios players scored in double figures. American swingman Lamar Patterson (196-91, college: Pittsburgh) responded with 9 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and international forward Luis Hernandez (206-88) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Indios. They maintain second place with 4-1 record behind leader Guayama. Piratas at the other side keep the third position with one game lost. They share it with Ponce and Fajardo. Indios will play against Capitanes (#8) in Arecibo in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Piratas will play at home against Santeros (#6) and hope to get back on the winning track.
