Regular Season Round 7: Lusitania - Benfica 69-82

Very significant was Benfica's (#4) 82-69 road victory against 5th ranked Lusitania. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Lusitania. Benfica forced 21 Lusitania turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for the former international forward Arnette Hallman (200-88) who led the winners and scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. The former international swingman Jose Silva (194-89) accounted for 19 points for the winning side. Benfica's coach Carlos Lisboa allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Swingman Sergio Silva (193-96, agency: Promo Sport ID) came up with 18 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Antonio Woods (185, college: Pennsylvania) added 16 points and 5 assists respectively for Lusitania in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Benfica (5-1) moved-up to third place, which they share with Oliveirense. Lusitania at the other side dropped to the sixth position with two games lost. Benfica will play against Ovarense (#7) at home in the next round. Lusitania will play against Esgueira and hopes to get back on the winning track.
