Regular Season Round 8: Apollon - AEK Larnaca 78-75

The most exciting game of round 8 in the OPAP Basket League took place in Limassol. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 3rd ranked AEK Larnaca (5-3) to first ranked Apollon (6-1) 78-75 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of AEK Larnaca. AEK Larnaca was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 5-point lead after three quarters before a 24-16 charge of Apollon, which allowed them to win the game. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was power forward Jeff Allen (201-87, college: Virginia Tech) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds. Power forward Joey Dorsey (206-83, college: Memphis) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Five Apollon players scored in double figures. Forward DeJon Davis (201-98, college: CBU) produced a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds and guard Quentin Snider (188-95, college: Louisville, agency: GoEmpire Group) added 17 points and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Apollon have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 6-1 record. AEK Larnaca at the other side dropped to the fourth place with three games lost. Apollon are looking forward to face Keravnos (#3) in Strovolos in the next round, which may be the game of the day. AEK Larnaca will have a break next round.
