Regular Season Round 7: Vitoria SC - Oliveirense 84-74

The most surprising game was the first loss of Oliveirense (5-1) in Guimaraes on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by ninth ranked Vitoria SC (3-3) 84-74. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Oliveirense. Vitoria SC made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Oliveirense turnovers. Strangely Oliveirense outrebounded Vitoria SC 46-22 including a 20-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American Alex Peacock (201-97, college: Texas St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points and 6 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Jaron Hopkins (198-94, college: Fresno St.) helped adding 16 points and 6 steals. Four Vitoria SC players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard EC Matthews (196-95, college: URI, agency: Duran International) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and Bahamas-American forward Travis Munnings (198-94, college: ULM, agency: Duran International) scored 9 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Vitoria SC moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Ovarense. Oliveirense at the other side dropped to the third position with one game lost. They share it with Benfica. Vitoria SC is looking forward to face Galitos-Barreiro (#13) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Oliveirense will play against Barreirense (#12) and is hoping to win this game.
