Regular Season Round 8: Zyrardow - AZS UMCS 69-111

No shocking result in a game when top-ranked AZS UMCS (5-0) smashed on the road 5th ranked Zyrardow (4-3) 111-69 on Saturday. AZS UMCS made 24-of-30 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game, while Zyrardow only scored eight points from the stripe. AZS UMCS forced 21 Zyrardow turnovers and had a 38-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The best player for the winners was power forward Mateusz Wisniewski (202-91) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Adam Mysliwiec (200-90) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. Five AZS UMCS players scored in double figures. Marcin Uliczka (189-94) produced 13 points and 4 assists and Mariusz Lapinski (196-82) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. AZS UMCS have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Tur Bielsk Pdl. and Zary. Newly promoted Zyrardow dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. AZS UMCS will have a break next round. Zyrardow will play on the road against the league's leader Legia 2 (#1) in Warszawa and hope to win that game.
