Regular Season Round 5: Olhanense - Academia 92-75

The game between third ranked Academia (2-2) and eighth ranked Olhanense (1-1) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Academia was defeated by Olhanense on the road 75-92. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Academia. Olhanense looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Academia's players. American forward Sterling Christy (201-96, college: Walsh) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). His fellow American import guard Tre Bowman (196-91, college: Iona) contributed with 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Five Olhanense players scored in double figures. Olhanense's coach Caesar Domingues used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Frederico Martins (192-2) answered with 35 points (!!!) and 4 steals and Jorge Embalo (192) added 16 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Academia. Olhanense left bottom position moving up to fifth place, which they share with Sanjoanense. Academia at the other side keeps the third position with two games lost. They share it with Sangalhos and CA Queluz. Olhanense is looking forward to face Benfica B (#6) in Lisbon in the next round. Academia will play at home against CB Queluz and is hoping to win this game.
