Regular Season Round 8: Mariupol - Polytechnic 81-107

The most important game in the last round took place in Mariupol between third ranked Mariupol (5-3) and top-ranked Politekhnik (4-0) on Sunday night. Mariupol was crushed by Politekhnik at home 107-81. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 14-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 107-81. Politekhnik made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Sergey Startsev (190-97) who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists and Sergiy Kuznetsov (203-97) who added 22 points and 4 assists during the contest. Forward Maksym Lukyanov (197-94) responded with 17 points and the former international guard Oleksandr Skutyelnik (192-77) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Five Politekhnik and four Mariupol players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Politekhnik have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 4-0 record. Mariupol at the other side keeps the third place with three games lost.
