Regular Season Round 5: Almat.Legion-2 - Kazygurt 68-82

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Almat.Legion-2 (4-1) in Alma-Ata on Wednesday night. Hosts were defeated by fifth ranked Kazygurt (3-2) 82-68. Kazygurt forced 19 Almat.Legion-2 turnovers. 28 personal fouls committed by Almat.Legion-2 helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Forward Aleksei Vereshagin (200-92) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 20 rebounds. Guard Alymzhan Maksutov (180-94) contributed with 15 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Four Kazygurt players scored in double figures. Forward Nikita Timofeev (199-98) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds and guard Stanislav Sahipov (190-2) added 13 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Almat.Legion-2. Almat.Legion-2's coach Vitaliy Lapchenko rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kazygurt have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Irtysh. Almat.Legion-2 at the other side dropped to the second position with one game lost. Kazygurt is looking forward to face league's leader Bars in Petropavlovsk in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Almat.Legion-2 will play on the road against Aktobe 2 and is hoping to win this game.
