Regular Season Round 5: Iraklis - Kolossos HH 66-65

Very predictable result in Thessaloniki where second ranked Iraklis (3-2) edged 8th ranked Kolossos HH (1-4) 66-65 on Wednesday. However just one-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Kolossos HH cut a 13-point halftime deficit to one at the end of the game. Kolossos HH was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Canadian guard Olivier Hanlan (193-93, college: Boston Coll., agency: Wasserman) stepped up and scored 9 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and the former international center Vasilis Kavvadas (205-91) chipped in 9 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Thodoris Zaras (197-87) responded with 20 points and Turkish forward Kerem Kanter (207-95, college: Xavier) scored 12 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Despite that victory Iraklis went down to fourth position due to points difference, which they share with Charilaos. Kolossos HH at the other side dropped to the ninth place with four games lost. Iraklis will face Charilaos (#4) in Mesolongi in the next round. Kolossos HH will play at home against Larissa BC (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
