Not a big story in a game in Las Palmas where 7th ranked Benicarlo (2-4) was rolled over by fifth ranked Gran Canaria 2 (4-1) 85-59 on Sunday. Gran Canaria 2 outrebounded Benicarlo 41-21 including a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Dominican guard Jean Montero (189-3) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Senegalese center Khalifa Diop (211-2) helped adding 12 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks. Five Gran Canaria 2 players scored in double figures. At the losing side Serbian power forward Nemanja Djordjevic (203-95) responded with 20 points and American forward Noah McCarty (203-98, college: NIU) scored 18 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gran Canaria 2 moved-up to fourth place in Silver. Loser Benicarlo dropped to the eighth position with four games lost. Gran Canaria 2 will face Navarra (#11) in Pamplona in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Benicarlo will play at home against La Roda and hope to win that game.
