Regular Season Round 6: Carolinas - Calpe 63-69

There was no surprise in La Carolina where bottom-ranked Carolinas (0-5) was defeated by sixth ranked Calpe (3-2) 69-63 on Sunday. Calpe shot 21 for 30 from the free-throw line, while Carolinas only scored four points from the stripe. Carolinas was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Joaquin Crespo (189-0) scored 18 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Jaime Ivars (186-94) chipped in 11 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was Santiago Gaya (-0) with 21 points and Mario Mariscal (-0) scored 18 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Calpe moved-up to fourth place in Group E-B, which they share with Cartagena. Newly promoted Carolinas still closes the standings with five games lost. Calpe will face higher ranked Alginet (#3) at home in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Carolinas will play against Cartagena (#4) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
