Leader Piratas delivered the ninth victory. This time they beat 6th ranked Capitanes (5-5) 98-94 in Quebradillas. Piratas players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Lamar Patterson (196-91, college: Pittsburgh) who helped to win the game recording 32 points. The other American import guard Mark Lyons (185-89, college: Arizona, agency: Higher Vision Sports) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists for the winners. Piratas' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The former international point guard Denis Clemente (183-86, college: Kansas St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 assists and international Devon Collier (203-91, college: Oregon St.) added 21 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Capitanes. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Piratas (9-2) have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Capitanes at the other side keep the sixth place with five games lost. Piratas will play against Brujos (#4) in Guayama in the next round. Capitanes will play at home against the league's second-placed Vaqueros and hope to get back on the winning track.
