Top ranked Spanish FC Barcelona (8-2) recorded its second loss on the court of eighteenth ranked French ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket 80-68. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of FC Barcelona. The game without a history. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 17-of-17 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 61.9 percentage. The best player for the winners was swingman David Lighty (198-88, college: Ohio St.) who scored 17 points. American point guard Norris Cole (188-88, college: CSU) chipped in 14 points and 4 assists. Nikola Mirotic (208-91) produced 14 points and 9 rebounds and Greek-American point guard Nick Calathes (197-89, college: Florida) added 12 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (2-6) moved-up to seventeenth place. FC Barcelona at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket are looking forward to face higher ranked Panathinaikos (#15) in Athens in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. FC Barcelona will play on the road against Zalgiris (#11) in Kaunas and is hoping to win this game.
