Regular Season Round 13: CSKA Junior - Khimki-2 92-63

There was a minor upset in Moscow where their close opponent Khimki-2 (9-6) was rolled over by fifth ranked CSKA Junior (9-7) 92-63 on Monday. The game was mostly controlled by CSKA Junior. Khimki-2 was better in third quarter 22-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. CSKA Junior dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Khimki-2's 36. CSKA Junior forced 19 Khimki-2 turnovers and outrebounded them 37-24 including 25 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Guard Ivan Pynko (196-0) fired 20 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Forward Alexander Maltsev (200-2) chipped in 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Five CSKA Junior players scored in double figures. Armenian forward Alexey Chizhenok (198-1) produced 12 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and forward Vladislav Odinokov (203-0) added 13 points respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. CSKA Junior moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Avtodor-2. Loser Khimki-2 dropped to the third position with six games lost. CSKA Junior will face Parma-2 (#10) in Perm in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Khimki-2 will play on the road against Enisey-2 (#11) in Krasnoyarsk and hope to win that game.
