Regular Season Round 16: Shimane SM - San-en NP 77-75

Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Shimane Magic (8-8) edged at home 10th ranked San-en NeoPhoenix (2-14) 77-75 on Wednesday. However just two-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Shimane Magic looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Reid Travis (203-95, college: Kentucky, agency: Pensack Sports) who helped to win the game recording 26 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field) and the other American import DeMon Brooks (202-92, college: Davidson) who added 16 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Shimane Magic's coach Yukinori Suzuki used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side Serbian power forward Stevan Jelovac (208-89, agency: BeoBasket) responded with 24 points and guard Hayato Kawashima (186-90) scored 12 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Four San-en NeoPhoenix players scored in double figures. Shimane Magic moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Akita NH. San-en NeoPhoenix lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 14 games lost. Shimane Magic will face league's second-placed Chiba J. on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. San-en NeoPhoenix will play against Yokohama BC (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
