Regular Season Round 8: Gemlik - Manisa 87-84

There was no surprise in Bursa where 10th ranked Manisa (4-3) was edged by eighth ranked Gemlik (3-4) 87-84 on Wednesday. Gemlik made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 58.3 percentage. Manisa was plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of center Emre Tanisan (206-99) who helped to win the game recording 30 points and 8 rebounds and American point guard Brian Starr (190-96, college: Towson) who added 21 points and 9 assists (perfect from downtown making all five shots) during the contest. Starr is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Gemlik players scored in double figures. American guard Marcus Hall (185-85, college: Colorado, agency: SDJ Sports) responded with 29 points and 4 steals and center Tolga Birer (202-98) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Despite that victory Gemlik went down to eleventh position due to points difference, which they share with Final Spor. Loser Manisa dropped to the fifth place with three games lost. Gemlik will face higher ranked Samsun (#9) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Manisa will play against the league's leader Akhisar Bld (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
