Regular Season Round 9: Cibona - FMP 93-80

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Zagreb where 9th ranked Serbian FMP (2-4) was defeated by tenth ranked Croatian Cibona (3-6) 93-80. Cibona shot 62.3 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three nailing 14 long-distance shots on high 56.0 percentage. Forward Ivan Novacic (201-85, agency: XL Basketball Agency) nailed 28 points for the winning side and power forward Filip Bundovic (203-94, agency: XL Basketball Agency) accounted for 20 points. Sava Lesic (205-88) came up with 14 points and 7 rebounds and Turkish swingman Okben Ulubay (201-97) added 16 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) respectively for FMP in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. FMP's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Cibona moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Split and Krka. FMP at the other side dropped to the eleventh position with four games lost. Cibona's next round opponent will be higher ranked Cedevita Olimpija (#5) in Ljubljana and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. FMP will play on the road against Igokea (#6) in Aleksandrovac and hope to win that game.
