There was no surprise when 10th ranked Ionikos Nikaias (1-5) was crushed at home by top-ranked Panathinaikos (4-0) 79-53 on Sunday. The game without a history. Panathinaikos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. The best player for the winners was Serbian guard Nemanja Nedovic (192-91, agency: BeoBasket) who scored 18 points and 4 assists. The former international forward Konstantinos Mitoglou (210-96, college: Wake Forest, agency: Wasserman) chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Panathinaikos' coach Giorgos Vovoras felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Toarlyn Fitzpatrick (203-89, college: S.Florida) who recorded 11 points and 9 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Adam Smith (185-92, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Network Sports International) added 15 points respectively. Four Ionikos Nikaias players scored in double figures. Panathinaikos have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to second place. Loser Ionikos Nikaias dropped to the eleventh position with five games lost. Panathinaikos' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens Peristeri GS.
