Regular Season Round 10: Olimpia - Gorizont 54-68

An interesting game for Gorizont (10-0) which played road game in Grodno against 3rd ranked Olimpia (7-3). Top-ranked Gorizont managed to get a 14-point victory 68-54. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Olimpia. It looked good early as Olimpia took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Gorizont had a 18-14 second period charge getting the lead and Olimpia was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 54-68. Gorizont had a 32-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Gorizont brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. The former international center Anastasiya Veremeenko (194-87) fired 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American swingman Adrienne Webb (175-90, college: LSU) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. Gorizont's coach Nataliya Trafimava used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Point guard Yuliya Vasilevich (165-1) produced 15 points and 6 rebounds and forward Yana Goliakova (183-1) added 8 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Gorizont have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 10-0 record. Olimpia at the other side keeps the third place with three games lost. Gorizont's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Gomel (#8) at home and are hoping to win another game. Olimpia will play against BDU Tsmoki (#4) in Minsk and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
