There was no surprise in Nicosia where 5th ranked Apoel (5-5) was defeated by second ranked Keravnos (7-2) 82-71 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Keravnos. Apoel was better in fourth quarter 25-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was point guard Ahmaad Rorie (184-95, college: Montana) who scored 17 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Power forward Andre Williamson (203-89, college: App State) chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds. Four Keravnos players scored in double figures. Forward Marcus Gilbert (198-93, college: Fairfield) produced 23 points and 8 rebounds and guard Julian Norfleet (188-91, college: Mt.St.Mary's, agency: GoEmpire Group) added 11 points and 7 assists respectively for the hosts. Defending champion maintains second place with 7-2 record behind leader Apollon. Apoel at the other side keeps the fifth position with five games lost. Keravnos will face Omonia (#7) in Nicosia in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
