Regular Season Round 19: Niigata A. - Chiba J. 69-94

B1 League top team - Chiba J. (16-3) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eighth ranked Niigata A. (6-13) 94-69. Chiba J. dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Niigata A.'s 26. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. It was a quality performance for American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: UConn) who led the winners and scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Shannon Shorter (193-89, college: N.Texas) accounted for 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Five Chiba J. players scored in double figures. American-Bulgarian center Jason Washburn (213-90, college: Utah, agency: Pensack Sports) came up with 18 points and 9 rebounds and American-North Macedonian power forward Richard Hendrix (203-86, college: Alabama) added 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Niigata A. in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Chiba J. have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 16-3 record, which they share with Tochigi B. Niigata A. lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 13 games lost. Chiba J. will play against Kyoto H. (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Niigata A. will play against the league's leader Aishin Sea Horses and hopes to get back on the winning track.
