Very expected game in Dongguan where 14th ranked Aviators (5-9) were crushed by third ranked Guandong Tigers (12-2) 132-104 on Thursday. Guandong Tigers shot 62.5 percent from the field. Guandong Tigers outrebounded Aviators 49-25 including a 38-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Aviators were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American MarShon Brooks (197-89, college: Providence) stepped up and scored 40 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Runwang Du (201-99) chipped in 19 points. American guard Askia Booker (186-93, college: Colorado) responded with 32 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists and the former international center Zijie Shen (210-97) scored 16 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains third place with 12-2 record having 3 victories less than leader Liaoning FL. Loser Aviators keep the fourteenth position with nine games lost. Guandong Tigers will face Sharks (#15) in Shanghai in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Aviators will play at home against Sturgeons and hope to win that game.
