Twelfth-ranked Blusens Monbus (5-8) used its home court advantage to challenge third ranked FC Barcelona (11-3) in Santiago de Comp on Sunday. The visitors from Barcelona managed to secure only three-point victory 78-75. However their fans expected much easier game. Greek-American point guard Nick Calathes (197-89, college: Florida) notched 25 points to lead the effort and the former international Nikola Mirotic (208-91) supported him with 8 points and 9 rebounds. Even 12 points and 6 rebounds by Lithuanian center Laurynas Birutis (213-97) did not help to save the game for Blusens Monbus. Point guard Jose Pozas (182-92) added 7 points and 6 assists for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. FC Barcelona maintains third position with 11-3 record having just three points less than leader Real Madrid. Blusens Monbus lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth place with eight games lost. FC Barcelona will meet at home Joventut (#5) in the next round. Blusens Monbus will play against Joventut (#5) and hope to secure a win.
