Regular Season Round 18: Lokomotiv-2 - CSKA Junior 76-85

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Lokomotiv-2 (15-6) in Krasnodar on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by seventh ranked CSKA Junior (11-8) 85-76. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Lokomotiv-2. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. CSKA Junior made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Lokomotiv-2 turnovers. 25 personal fouls committed by Lokomotiv-2 helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Forward Filipp Gafurov (207-1) scored 19 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Alexander Maltsev (200-2) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) during the contest. The best for the losing side was center Yaroslav Nyagu (211-3) with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Sergey Dolinin (204-0) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Four Lokomotiv-2 players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. CSKA Junior moved-up to sixth place, which they share with MBA-2. Lokomotiv-2 at the other side still keeps top position with six games lost. CSKA Junior will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Lokomotiv-2 will play again at home against CSKA Junior and is hoping to win this game.
