No shocking result in a game in Lisbona where fourth ranked Benfica (8-2) defeated 6th ranked Oliveirense (7-4) 90-74 on Friday. Benfica made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international Betinho Gomes (202-85) who scored 18 points and 7 rebounds. American center Eric Coleman (200-85, college: N.Iowa) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Four Benfica players scored in double figures. Bahamas-American forward Travis Munnings (198-94, college: ULM, agency: Duran International) produced 22 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and American forward Justin Alston (203-94, college: Boston U.) added 13 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Benfica moved-up to third place, which they share with Imortal. Oliveirense lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. Benfica will face Galitos-Barreiro (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Oliveirense will play against Esgueira (#14) and hope to win that game.
