Regular Season Round 9: Sanjoanense - Povoa 68-82

Proliga top team - Povoa (6-0) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat fifth ranked Sanjoanense (2-4) in Sao Joao 82-68. They outrebounded Sanjoanense 41-25 including a 27-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for the former international point guard Nuno Oliveira (186-89) who led his team to a victory with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists. Swingman Kameron Williams (190) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Povoa's coach Jose Ricardo Rodrigues used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Nigerian power forward Munachiso Okonkwo (204-94, college: Upper Iowa, agency: Promo Sport ID) answered with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and guard Eduardo Guimaraes (185-92) added 14 points and 4 steals in the effort for Sanjoanense. Four Sanjoanense players scored in double figures. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Povoa. Newly promoted Povoa maintains first place with 6-0 record. Sanjoanense at the other side dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. Povoa's next round opponent will be Galomar (#4). Sanjoanense will play against Sampaense in Coimbra and hope to win that game.
