Regular Season Round 10: Gandia - Tabernes 59-79

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 6th ranked Gandia (3-5) was outscored at home by seventh ranked Tabernes (4-5) 79-59 on Saturday. Tabernes outrebounded Gandia 43-29 including 30 on the defensive glass. It was a very good performance for center Lucas Blasco (197-98) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 15 rebounds. Center Ignacio Mate (200-0) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four Tabernes players scored in double figures. Point guard Joan Hernandez (184-97) replied with 13 points and 8 assists and center Oskars Hernandez (211-1) added 16 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for Gandia. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Tabernes moved-up to sixth place, which they share with UCAM Murcia 2. Loser Gandia dropped to the eighth position with five games lost. Tabernes will face higher ranked UAF Lucentum (#4) in Alicante in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Gandia will play on the road against Ontinent (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
