Regular Season Round 23: Shimane SM - Ryukyu GK 69-89

There was no surprise when 5th ranked Shimane Magic (8-15) was crushed at home by second ranked Ryukyu GK (17-6) 89-69 on Sunday. Ryukyu GK made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American forward Dwayne Evans (201-92, college: St.Louis, agency: Wasserman) who scored 18 points and 7 rebounds. His fellow American import power forward Jack Cooley (206-91, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Four Ryukyu GK players scored in double figures. Ryukyu GK's coach Hiroki Fujita used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Ryo Abe (183-95) produced 15 points and American DeMon Brooks (202-92, college: Davidson) added 9 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Ryukyu GK keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Sea Horses M. Shimane Magic lost their seventh game in a row. They keep the fifth place with 15 games lost. Ryukyu GK will face Toshiba Thunders (#3) in Kanagawa in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Shimane Magic will play at home against Yokohama BC and hope to win that game.
