Regular Season Round 6: Cearense - Pinheiros 79-62

Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked Pinheiros (3-7) was defeated on the road by eighth ranked Fortaleza (6-4) 79-62 on Sunday. Fortaleza dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Pinheiros' 30 and made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Fortaleza forced 24 Pinheiros turnovers. The best player for the winners was American guard Desmond Holloway (194-90, college: Coastal) who scored 34 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field). Forward Sualisson Da-Silva (203-92) chipped in 9 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international Guilherme Teichmann (204-83, college: Tulsa) who recorded 6 points and 14 rebounds and point guard Gabriel Campos (179-1) added 14 points and 4 assists respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Fortaleza moved-up to seventh place. Loser Pinheiros dropped to the twelfth position with seven games lost. Fortaleza will face higher ranked Sao Paulo (#3) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Pinheiros will play against UniFacisa (#8) and hope to win that game.
