Regular Season Round 8: AEK - Aris 84-67

A1 top team - AEK (7-0) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they beat sixth ranked Aris (3-4) in Athens 84-67. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 84-67. AEK dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Aris' 30 and made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Aris 37-25 including 28 on the defensive glass. 25 personal fouls committed by Aris helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a quality performance of American Keith Langford (193-83, college: Kansas) who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Lithuanian forward Jonas Maciulis (198-85) who added 10 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four AEK players scored in double figures. Ioannis Kouzeloglou (204-95) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds and American point guard Mario Chalmers (188-86, college: Kansas) scored 16 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. AEK have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 7-0 record. Aris at the other side keeps the sixth place with four games lost. AEK are looking forward to face Lavrio (#4) on the road in the next round. Aris will play against Kolossos HH and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
