Regular Season Round 24: Sendai 89ers - Fukushima 91-79

The game between Top Four teams took place in Sendai. Third ranked host Sendai 89ers (15-9) defeated one of their biggest challengers Fukushima (13-11) 91-79. Sendai 89ers made 18-of-19 charity shots (94.7 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. It was a good game for American Eric Jacobsen (208-94, college: ASU) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 12 rebounds (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!). The other American import center Daniel Miller (211-91, college: Georgia Tech) contributed with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. American forward Shaheed Davis (206-94, college: UCF) replied with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds and forward Shuhei Muto (192-91) added 18 points in the effort for Fukushima. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Sendai 89ers maintains third position with 15-9 record having seven points less than leader Saga B. which they share with defeated Fukushima. Fukushima lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the third place with 11 games lost. Sendai 89ers' next round opponent will be league's leader Saga B. at home and it will be for sure the game of the week. Fukushima will play against the league's second-placed Ibaraki R. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
