Regular Season Round 6: Okzhetpes - Astana Tigers 61-69

Very significant was Astana Tigers' (#7) 69-61 road victory against bottom-ranked Okzhetpes. Forward Anastasia Knaub (184-5) notched a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds to lead the effort and swingman Daria Koroleva (180-88) supported her with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Astana Tigers players scored in double figures. Even 23 points and 7 rebounds by power forward Nadezhda Yakovleva (183-3) did not help to save the game for Okzhetpes. Point guard Zoya Budai (167-3) added 9 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. Okzhetpes' coach Victoriya Volkova rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion maintains seventh position with 1-5 record. It was Okzhetpes' sixth loss in a row. They still close the standings with six games lost. Astana Tigers will play against league's second-placed Kaspiy Aktau at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Okzhetpes will play against Irtysh (#4) in Pavlodar and hope to get finally their first victory.
