Regular Season Round 16: Real Madrid - ALBA 91-62
Date: December 22, 2020
Not a big story in a game when 13th ranked German ALBA Berlin (6-9) was rolled over on the road by third ranked Spanish Real Madrid (11-5) 91-62 on Tuesday. The game without a history. Real Madrid led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Real Madrid outrebounded ALBA Berlin 38-22 including a 27-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Cape Verdean-Spanish center Walter Tavares (220-92) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and center Usman Garuba (203-2) who added 15 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) during the contest. At the losing side American forward Luke Sikma (202-89, college: Portland) responded with 13 points and 7 rebounds and guard Maodo Lo (191-92, college: Columbia) scored 13 points (made all of his seven free throws). The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Real Madrid have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Barca. Defending German champion ALBA Berlin keeps the thirteenth position with nine games lost. Real Madrid will face Anadolu Efes (#9) in Istanbul in the next round and are hoping to win another game. ALBA Berlin will play at home against Zalgiris (#8) and hope to win that game.
