Regular Season Round 24: Osaka E. - Chiba J. 98-101

Fourth-ranked Osaka E. (12-12) used its home court advantage to challenge first ranked Chiba J. (21-3). The visitors from Chiba managed to secure only three-point victory 101-98. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Osaka E.. Chiba J. made 22-of-27 charity shots (81.5 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Osaka E. was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Spanish forward Sebastian Saiz (205-94, college: Ole Miss) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Shannon Shorter (193-89, college: N.Texas) who added 20 points and 5 assists during the contest. Chiba J.'s coach Atsushi Ono allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American guard DJ Newbill (193-92, college: Penn St.) with 27 points and 9 assists and the former international Takuya Hashimoto (186-94) scored 24 points and 4 assists. Four Chiba J. and five Osaka E. players scored in double figures. Chiba J. have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 21-3 record. Osaka E. at the other side keeps the fourth place with 12 games lost. Chiba J. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Osaka E. will play again at home against the league's leader Chiba J. (#1) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
