Very expected game in Tenerife where 9th ranked Andorra (7-7) was defeated by second ranked CB Canarias (13-2) 93-81 on Sunday. CB Canarias shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 56.5 percentage. Georgian center Giorgi Shermadini (217-89) fired a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Brazilian-Italian point guard Marcelinho Huertas (191-83) chipped in 19 points and 9 assists. Four CB Canarias players scored in double figures. Polish forward Tomasz Gielo (205-93, college: Ole Miss) produced 18 points and 6 rebounds and Icelandic guard Haukur Palsson (197-92, college: Maryland) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. CB Canarias maintains second position with 13-2 record behind leader Real Madrid. Loser Andorra dropped to the tenth place with seven games lost. CB Canarias will face Movil Estudiantes (#14) in Madrid in the next round which should be an easy win for them.
