Regular Season Round 24: Zalgiris II - Vytis 75-79

The most important game in the last round took place in Kaunas between third ranked Zalgiris II (13-7) and fourth ranked Vytis (12-3) on Wednesday night. Zalgiris II was defeated by Vytis in a tough game at home 75-79. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Zalgiris II. Vytis looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was center Aurelijus Pukelis (205-94) who had a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds (on 18-of-22 shooting from the field). Point guard Paulius Semaska (185-93) chipped in 5 points and 15 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Paulius Murauskas (203-4) who recorded 15 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Mantas Rubstavicius (198-2) added 12 points respectively. Zalgiris II's coach Arvydas Gronskis tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Vytis have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 12-3 record. Zalgiris II at the other side keeps the third place with seven games lost. Vytis are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Silales Lusis (#15) in Rietavas in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Zalgiris II will have a break next round.
