Eleventh-ranked Maccabi Raanana (2-5) made lots of trouble for leader Ironi Ashkelon (8-0) on Saturday. The visitors from Ashkelon managed to secure only one-point victory 74-73. However their fans expected much easier game. Ironi Ashkelon looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward AlLonzo Coleman (207-89, college: Presbyterian) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds. Naturalized American guard Clarke Rosenberg (193-93, college: Chicago St.) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. Ironi Ashkelon's coach Hanan Hirshovitch used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Austin Price (193-95, college: Lehigh) who recorded 18 points and 5 assists and naturalized Slovakian forward Tomer Levinson (207-0) added 12 points and 14 rebounds respectively. Five Maccabi Raanana players scored in double figures. Ironi Ashkelon have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain first place with 8-0 record. Maccabi Raanana lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with five games lost. They share it with E.Yavne. Ironi Ashkelon are looking forward to face league's second-placed I.Ramat Gan at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Maccabi Raanana will play against Hasharon (#10) in Hod Hasharon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
