The game had a very big importance for second-ranked AEK as it allowed them to take a leadership position. AEK defeated 10th ranked Kolossos HH in Athens 89-72. The hosts trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 89-72. AEK made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Kolossos HH turnovers. 24 personal fouls committed by Kolossos HH helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American Keith Langford (193-83, college: Kansas) who helped to win the game recording 22 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Kolossos HH at the other side keeps the tenth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Charilaos. Kolossos HH will play next round against Ionikos Nikaias trying to get back on the winning streak. AEK will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Panathinaikos. It will be extra interesting game as Panathinaikos is their local rival from Athens.
