Regular Season Round 18: ALBA - Maccabi T-A 73-85

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both thirteenth ranked Israeli Maccabi T-A and 12th ranked German ALBA Berlin had identical 7-10 record. But ALBA Berlin was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Tel-Aviv 85-73 on Thursday night. The game was mostly controlled by Maccabi T-A. ALBA Berlin was better in third quarter 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. It was a good game for Greek-American guard Tyler Dorsey (196-96, college: Oregon, agency: Wasserman) who led his team to a victory with 25 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). American-Italian forward Angelo Caloiaro (203-89, college: USF, agency: Pensack Sports) contributed with 16 points and 6 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) for the winners. Uruguayan-Italian guard Jayson Granger (189-89) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists and center Johannes Thiemann (206-94, agency: BeoBasket) added 11 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for ALBA Berlin. Four ALBA Berlin players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending Israeli champion (8-10) moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Fenerbahce. Defending German champion ALBA Berlin dropped to the fourteenth position with 11 games lost. Maccabi T-A will face higher ranked Olympiacos (#9) in Pireus in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. ALBA Berlin will play on the road against Anadolu Efes (#11) in Istanbul and hope to win that game.
