Very expected game in Lisbona where 9th ranked CAB Madeira (5-9) was rolled over by third ranked Benfica (11-3) 104-67. Benfica forced 22 CAB Madeira turnovers. Strangely CAB Madeira outrebounded Benfica 42-28 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three nailing 20 long-distance shots on high 51.3 percentage. Benfica players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by CAB Madeira's players. The former international Betinho Gomes (202-85) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points. American guard Bryce Alford (190-94, college: UCLA) contributed with 22 points for the winners. American guard Paul Jorgensen (188-96, college: Butler) replied with 19 points and 6 assists and forward Nuno Sa (200-97) added 13 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for CAB Madeira. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Benfica have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 11-3 record having just one point less than leader Sporting. CAB Madeira lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with nine games lost. Benfica will play against Imortal (#4) in Albufeira in the next round. CAB Madeira will play at home against Esgueira (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
