Regular Season Round 7: Oleggio - Faenza 79-80

Rather predictable result when third ranked Faenza (6-1) edged on the road 7th ranked Oleggio (4-3) 80-79 on Saturday. Faenza forced 21 Oleggio turnovers. Oleggio was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for power forward Giacomo Filippini (204-91) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Forward Marco Petrucci (195-92) helped adding 20 points. At the losing side naturalized Swiss Olivier Giacomelli (198-95) responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds and the former international Claudio Negri (197-85) scored 10 points and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Faenza have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Piacenza and San Miniato. Loser Oleggio dropped to the second place with three games lost. Faenza will face Alba (#14) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Oleggio will play against Alessandria (#16) and hope to win that game.
