Regular Season Round 13: Angers - Lorient 85-88

Important game to mention about took place in Angers. Fifth ranked Lorient (6-2) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 8th ranked Etoile Angers (4-5) 88-85 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Etoile Angers. Etoile Angers was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Lithuanian Ronaldas Rutkauskas (203-92) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 16 rebounds for the winners and point guard Sebastien Cape (184-93) chipped in 15 points and 5 assists. At the losing side swingman Stephan Gauthier (192-95) responded with 33 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and American power forward Jason Jones (203-86, college: Northeastern St.) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Lorient. They keep a position of Group A leader. Etoile Angers at the other side keeps the eighth place with five games lost. Lorient will play against Rueil (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Etoile Angers will play against Dax-Gamarde (#12) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
