Bottom-ranked Gipuzkoa managed to get the second consecutive victory on Saturday night. This time newly promoted Gipuzkoa won against seventh-ranked Joventut in Badalona 94-90. American power forward Mike Carlson (206-91, college: Truman St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 6 rebounds. Argentinian point guard Lucas Faggiano (188-89, college: LIU Brooklyn) contributed with 12 points and 4 assists for the winners. Five Gipuzkoa players scored in double figures. International forward Xabier Lopez-Arostegui (200-97) replied with 24 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and North Macedonian guard Nenad Dimitrijevic (186-98, agency: BeoBasket) added 10 points and 4 assists in the effort for Joventut. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Gipuzkoa (4-15) moved-up to seventeenth place, which they share with Real Betis and Bilbao. Joventut lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with nine games lost. Gipuzkoa is looking forward to face league's second-placed FC Barcelona at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Joventut will play against Movil Estudiantes (#15) in Madrid and is hoping to win this game.
