We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 5th ranked Burgos (13-6) lost at home to sixth ranked Valencia Basket (13-6) 83-78 on Sunday. The winners were led by French forward Louis Labeyrie (209-92) who scored that evening 21 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and American forward Derrick Williams (203-91, college: Arizona) supported him with 11 points and 5 rebounds. Even 25 points by American-Georgian guard Thaddus McFadden (188-87, college: Fairmont St., agency: BeoBasket) did not help to save the game for Burgos. Cuban power forward Jasiel Rivero (204-93, agency: Pro Sports) added 14 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the hosts. Burgos' coach Joan Penarroya rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Valencia Basket have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with defeated Burgos. Valencia Basket will meet at home higher ranked Baskonia (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Burgos will play against UCAM Murcia and hope to secure a win.
